Susannah Stroud Wright has joined as Chief Legal Officer to lead ID.me’s legal, compliance, and government affairs functions as the company scales its use of AI. Darragh Whelan has simultaneously joined as Executive Vice President of Engineering to lead all product and platform engineering.

Wright joins ID.me after eight years as Chief Legal Officer & Secretary of Credit Karma, where she built and led a 60-person legal, compliance, and government affairs organization as the company scaled from $500 million to nearly $2 billion in revenue and over 140 million members.

Wright has deep experience with building legal and compliance frameworks for the responsible use of AI and has been a speaker on Responsible AI at TEDAI and at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conferences.  Prior to joining Credit Karma, Wright led the compliance functions at Tesla and SolarCity.  She was also a prosecutor in Atlanta, Georgia, earlier in her career, where she handled all manner of felony cases and worked with local political representatives and community leaders on preventing and reducing crime. Among her many accolades, Wright was named “General Counsel of the Year” by Women, Influence & Power in Law in 2020 and one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Business in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times in 2022.

He spent the three years before that as Vice President of Engineering at Chime, leading a 200-person engineering organization across risk, member services, identity management, data engineering and science, and the company’s decisioning platform.
