WEBSTER, WI – October 13, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Copycat Hearth & Home, a third-generation hearth and hot tub retailer in Webster, Wisconsin, has outlined how the Endless Pools swim spas it sells and installs stay in use for low-impact exercise through the winter, drawing on a resource it published on August 3 comparing swim spas, hot tubs, and pools in the region’s climate and a June 2 resource on home aquatic exercise. The company is restating that guidance in October, as lakes across the region head toward freeze-up and outdoor exercise options narrow for the season.
A swim spa is a compact, current-driven unit for swimming, walking or running in place against adjustable resistance, in a footprint the company’s resources describe as a fraction of a traditional pool’s. The company’s July resource puts a typical unit at twelve to twenty feet long and seven to eight feet wide, and its website lists three Endless Pools series in 12- to 20-foot lengths, from the R-Series airless current suited to light exercise and family recreation to the hydraulically powered E-Series current for stronger resistance, with the speed adjustable on each.
The low-impact case rests on buoyancy. The company’s June resource repeats the figure published by Endless Pools, the manufacturer, that water can support up to 90 percent of a person’s body weight depending on water depth, and on that basis the company describes walking and jogging in the unit as a lower-impact alternative to the same movement on land for people seeking less stress on their joints. The resource also notes that water resistance stays uniform through a movement, unlike a lifted weight, and it describes underwater walking, jogging, and standing resistance-band work as the usual starting points for people who are not strong swimmers, with the current kept off entirely for stretching. The company presents the guidance as general education for owners of swim spas in Wisconsin rather than individual advice.
“Winter weather really impacts people’s regular routines. The lake freezes, the roads become treacherous, and many are unwilling to drive to the gym in a snowstorm. A swim spa provides a solution by allowing you to maintain your routine even in November,” said Bill Estridge, owner of Copycat Hearth & Home.
The company’s guidance states that the units are designed for freezing temperatures. According to the July resource, heavy-duty insulation and custom-fit covers are built to protect the plumbing, and the water does not need to be drained for winter; the June resource says a unit that is kept covered when not in use is designed to hold its set temperature. The August resource estimates that a traditional pool in the region sits idle for roughly eight months of the year while a swim spa stays in service. The company also provides winterization for hot tub owners who close their spas for the season, a step its July resource says a swim spa kept in use does not need, and in the coldest months the hydromassage seats are used for a warm soak after exercise.
Placement is more flexible than a traditional pool, according to the company. A swim spa needs a solid, level surface, typically a poured concrete pad, and an appropriate electrical connection, and units can sit entirely above ground, be partly recessed into a deck, or be installed fully in-ground. The company says many models also fit a converted garage or a basement with proper ventilation, and that swim spa installations take longer than hot tubs because of site preparation and electrical work. In a June Facebook post, the company noted that a swim spa installed that month at a lake property would be used in summer and winter alike because the units operate year-round.
“Start with the current off and just walk. People are surprised how much work that is when the water is carrying most of their weight. Once that feels easy, turn the current up a notch at a time,” continued Estridge.
Copycat Hearth & Home began in 1982 as Copycat Fabricators, when Russ Estridge started building stoves in his garage in Danbury. Rick and Terri Estridge opened the Webster store in 1998, and in 2021 their son Bill and his wife Jessie became the third generation to own the business. The Webster showroom covers more than 4,000 square feet of hearth displays, Hot Spring Spas hot tubs, Endless Pools swim spas, and Tylö saunas. The company has installed and serviced hot tubs and swim spas in the region for three decades, employs NFI-certified technicians for gas, wood, and pellet units, and provides installation, service, chimney, and winterization work for homes across Northwest Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
